Searching

The Photoline Archive offers two modes of Searching its records - Quick Search and Advanced Search.
Quick Search is available at the upper right of any page. To use, type in your term and press ENTER or click on QUICK SEARCH.
Quick Search will then scan the database for every instance of your search term and display it. For instance searching for "F" will show every instance of this, including inside image descriptions, photographer names and the like.

Advanced Search is also available at the upper right of any page, to access it click on ADVANCED SEARCH.
The Advanced Search page will then display, letting you search specific areas of the archive for your search term. For instance, searching "F" in "Locomotive ID" will only search for Locomotives with the character "F" in their ID.

Both Quick and Advanced searches allow for spaces or no spaces in search terms. For example, searching F13 will return results including F13 and F 13 and visa versa.

Browsing

The Photoline Archive can be browsed by Collection (a series of photos attributed to a single person or organisation) or by clicking any of the images on the home page.
The best way to view the archive is via the Search functions, which will yeild you specific results.

High Resolution Downloads

The Photoline Archive provides High Resolution copies of photos in the archive where possible. Due to the cost of providing these, we limit all Registered Users to ten (10) downloads per calendar month.
If you require more than this, we offer additional downloads after paying a small fee on our Subcriptions page, with a range of options depending on how many additional High Resolution images you may require.

Uploading

The Photoline Archive relies on its users to contribute photos from their historic (pre-2006) photo collections.
To Upload an image to the Photoline Archive, you first must be a registered user of the site. You can register by Clicking Here or from the Login page.
Before uploading, be sure to read thoroughly the terms to which you are agreeing to share the image.
